Since I was pretty negative toward Toyota of Orlando after their bait and switch attempt, I thought I would post something positive about Phillips Toyota right here in Leesburg. Stephanie and I stopped by to see what they had and get an idea of what we wanted. Although my last buying experience five years ago at Phillips Toyota was a bit bumpy, I have to say that I was very impressed and pleasantly surprised this time.
Our salesman was “AB”, which he says is a lot easier than his real name (Ateef or something like that). He was very casual and low key in his approach. Although I didn’t go with the intent to buy anything, I gave AB my list of demands and what Phillips would have to do to earn my business. He simply said, no problem. We drove a sweet 2017 Tacoma 4×4 TRD Offroad and I really liked it. So I decided to give AB a chance.
I had two prices from two other Toyota dealers, so I used those to set my limits. I was pretty surprised when AB came back with a deal that was within my monthly payment range, especially considering the price of the truck. The F&I guy was great as well. When we first went in he presented the warranty sheet with the different prices for extended warranties. I was a bit disappointed since adding a 7 year 70,000 mile warranty would add about $100 per month to the price of the truck. I really didn’t want to go there. I guess he saw my expression and said; “oh, don’t worry about those prices. I can do better than that. I think you’ll be really happy.” So I’m thinking he would get like $20 or so knocked off the price of the extended warranty. Unbelievably, he came back with the 7 year, 70,000 mile warranty, including all scheduled maintenance, and the Xzilon interior and exterior treatment for only $20 per month. And, to top it off, my final interest rate ended up at 2.62%.
So my hat’s off to Phillips Toyota in Leesburg for winning my business once again. As far as the truck, so far I’m loving it. Looking forward to hauling my Little Guy down to the Keys in a few weeks. Of course, I’ll miss the gas mileage of my Prius (yeah, we kept the RAV4), but the Tacoma drives better, is quieter on the road, and roars with power.
